You may have heard lots of conversations recently about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it is being used in schools.
At its heart, AI is simply another tool that helps us learn, much like calculators, books, or visual timetables have done for years. Just as glasses help us see more clearly or ramps help us move more easily, AI can enhance learning for all children by offering support, challenge, and accessibility in new and exciting ways.
We all already use AI in everyday life — from map directions to voice‑activated music (Alexa), from photo sorting to spell‑checkers.
In school, we use AI thoughtfully to:
• Provide visual aids and models that help children understand new ideas
• Create resources that stretch and challenge growing brains
• Support access to learning for pupils who benefit from additional scaffolding
• Spark curiosity and creativity in the classroom
As with any tool, we use AI with strong ethical and moral principles. Safeguarding remains our absolute priority!
Our aim is simple: to use technology in ways that are safe, meaningful, and supportive of every child’s learning journey.
AI will never replace the care, expertise, and relationships that make our school special — but it can help us offer even richer learning experiences for all.
We are pleased to share with all parents that WBIS has recently been awarded and is proud to hold 'Pathfinder Status' within the AiEd Certified framework, supporting responsible and purposeful AI integration across our community.
