This week in English, the children have been learning how to plan and write an informal letter linked to our class text The Great Paint. They explored the features of an informal letter and then wrote their own letters from the perspective of the main character. The children worked hard on expressing thoughts and feelings in role, and we were incredibly proud of the outcomes – their writing showed great creativity, empathy, and growing confidence.
In maths, we have moved on to learning about fractions, focusing on finding half and a quarter of a shape. The children did a fantastic job recognising equal parts and explaining their thinking. It was lovely to see them using mathematical vocabulary accurately and applying what they know through practical activities.
Our science learning this week focused on plants. The children labelled the different parts of a plant and were able to describe the purpose of each part, showing a good understanding of how plants grow and survive. They demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm during discussions.
With the recent sunshine, the children have thoroughly enjoyed their learning even more, especially when we have been able to make the most of the bright weather. It has been a joyful and productive week, and the children should be very proud of all they have achieved.
