Our learning journey this week...

What an exciting week we have had in Year 1! On Monday morning, the children were amazed to discover that an alien had crash-landed in our outdoor area over the weekend. We became investigators and carefully explored the crash site, recording what we could see and thinking of questions we would like to ask about the mysterious event. The children showed fantastic curiosity and imagination throughout the activity.

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of numbers to 10 by representing numbers in different ways and practising forming them correctly. The children have worked hard to build secure number knowledge, which will support them as we begin applying these skills to numbers to 20 next week.

In Science, we have started our new learning about materials. We have been exploring the properties of different materials and discussing which materials are best suited for particular purposes. The children enjoyed investigating a range of objects and explaining their reasoning using scientific vocabulary.

We are incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into Year 1 and look forward to another week of exciting learning ahead!
