  • Ofsted & Monitoring

Every year Ofsted undertake a risk review of the school to ensure that children's outcomes remain high, the leadership continues to be strong, and there are no safeguarding issues and no complaints.

West Byfleet Infant School was last inspected in February 2023. We are delighted with the progress made in our school, particularly our outcomes and comments regarding values and behaviours for learning.

The next inspection will be in approximately four years.

The full report can be seen below.

    Internal Monitoring of Performance

During the school year, we continually monitor children’s progress and attainment to ensure that planning and interventions enable all children to make good progress. The Senior Leadership Team and Subject Leaders observe and monitor teaching and learning to ensure that the education provided to the children is of a high standard. There are regular discussions with children about their learning and the children’s books are scrutinised to ensure that a high standard is achieved. The school governors receive regular reports from the school team and visit the school throughout the year to validate reports. We listen to parents, children and staff through questionnaires and are always looking for ways to improve our offer.

    External Validation of Performance

We also look for outside validation of our performance through taking part in a number of external opportunities to share good practice across local schools and receive external consultant feedback on specific areas of school improvement.

Each year we seek an Educational Consultant to undertake a rigorous review of all aspects of teaching and learning across the school as a designated 'Learning Support Partner'.

We plan, organise and deliver network and moderation visits with schools in the area and this provides staff high-quality time for professional discussions, benchmarking of learning and environment learning walks.
