In Year 2 at West Byfleet Infant School, we aim to provide all children with engaging and enjoyable learning opportunities across every area of the curriculum. We are a dedicated and cheerful team who work closely together to provide the very best for our pupils. Throughout the year, we focus on building strong, positive relationships with every child, ensuring they feel valued as individuals and develop a true sense of belonging within their class, year group, and the wider school family.
We believe that children are happiest and most motivated when they learn in a nurturing, supportive, and positive environment. We aim to inspire every child through exciting challenges and high expectations, helping them grow in confidence and curiosity. Through ongoing assessment and thoughtful planning, we tailor learning to meet individual needs, enabling every child to succeed at each stage of their journey. Our broad and balanced curriculum ensures that Year 2 children gain essential skills and knowledge while being inspired to achieve their full potential.
Our classrooms are designed to reflect current learning, with working walls used as a key tool to support children’s understanding. These walls are regularly updated throughout the week and offer useful resources that reinforce and underpin the learning taking place. Children are encouraged to refer to them to help clarify their thinking and strengthen their understanding. During all lessons, pupils have access to a range of learning resources and are supported in independently selecting the tools that help them thrive and succeed in their learning.
