Our Eco Journey So Far

Eco Journey What We Achieved
2023-2024

Children collected data on carbon emissions and explained a range of strategies they tried on 'how to cut carbon'.

The impact was that 30% of pupils tried a Vegan Meal

The school did a poster competition to promote a 'Plastic Free Lunch' campaign.

Eco Team chose the winners and posted on newsletter for awareness.

As a school we took part in 'Walk to School Week' and monitored travel methods before, during and after.

The 'Best Foot Forward' trophy was awarded to the most improved class for 'walking' in the weeks data.

As a school we worked hard on raising children and the communities awareness of 'single-use plastic'.

We used assemblies, carried out a community litter pick at the canal and made videos to share in assembly.

2024-2025

As a school we set up a recycling batteries and pen initiative for the community and staff across the school - this established our commitment to reducing wastage.

As an Eco Team we established a whole school approach to fruit and vegetable waste disposal - the team set up class and communal bins and considerably reduced the amount of waste going to landfill.

As a school we marketed and celebrated the community support for the canal litter pick - we were thrilled to see many families supporting our rivers and canals at a weekend litter pick.

As a key focus - we wanted to ensure that our Eco Team maintained and looked after the Wild Garden zone in our playground.

The children thoroughly enjoy and show 'awe and wonder' when investigating this space as there is a range of habitats.
