Our Learning Journey this week....
We’ve had another amazing week of learning with the children, and we are so proud of how hard they have been working and how confidently they are challenging themselves in their learning.
This week we enjoyed another wonderful Drawing Club session. The children are now beginning to write their own captions and word codes, and it’s been lovely to see their imagination and growing independence shine through.
We also had our local area trip to the canal, which the children absolutely loved! We hunted for trolls under the bridge and looked for birds in the surrounding area as part of the Big Garden Birdwatch. The children were curious, observant, and so excited to share what they spotted.
In maths, we have been practising using number lines, exploring the idea of one more, and writing number sentences using the correct symbols (+ and =). The children are becoming much more confident in explaining their thinking.
In phonics, we introduced the final few Year R sounds this week:
The children did brilliantly at finding these sounds in words and trying to use them independently in their own writing of words and short captions.
For the rest of the year, during our daily phonics sessions, we will continue revisiting and consolidating all the Phase 3 sounds, practising reading them in words and using them confidently in writing.
Writing Books – Important Notice
We have noticed that there is quite a lot of uncompleted work in some of the children’s writing workbooks. Please take some time to help your child complete any unfinished pages.
Completing this work really makes a big difference to your child’s progress in writing. It helps them practise their letter formation, build confidence, and develop the key skills they need for Year R and beyond.
Thank you for your continued support with your child’s learning at home.
