Reading with your child as often as possible at home makes a huge difference to their confidence, enjoyment, and progress. To help celebrate and reinforce their learning, your child will regularly bring home books they have read in school. These books are a great opportunity for your child to show off what they’ve learned and to build fluency through repetition.
We kindly ask grown-ups to write a short comment in your child’s reading record each time you read together. These comments help us track progress and tailor support to each child’s needs. Thank you for being a vital part of your child’s reading journey – your support truly helps them grow into happy, capable readers.
We are excited to be sending home a Reception Writing Workbook to support your child’s early writing development. This workbook is designed to help children practise correct letter formation and build the fine motor skills needed for confident, fluent handwriting.
Each week, we will introduce new sounds for your child to practise at home. These will link closely to the phonics we are learning in class and will help reinforce early reading and writing skills. Please encourage your child to use the workbook regularly and take pride in their efforts. Short, frequent practice sessions can make a big difference in developing strong writing habits and hand control.
Can you play ‘I spy with my little eye’ and find some things beginning with the sounds – ‘s’ ‘a’ ‘t’ ‘p’?!
