Home Learning Books – Starting Spring 2

Home learning will begin in Spring 2, when activities linked to the children's learning in school will be shared.

Until then, we encourage all children to read regularly at home and to develop key early skills through simple activities such as cutting, drawing, practising pencil grip, and forming letters correctly. These experiences build the foundations for successful learning and help children gain confidence in their independence and fine motor development.

Although home learning is not compulsory, we strongly encourage children to take part where possible.  There is no expectation for children to do every task or even one every week.These short, fun activities are designed to build confidence, strengthen classroom learning, and give children a chance to share what they know.

How It Will Work

• Wednesday:
  Children bring their Home Learning Books back to school with their chosen activity.
• Wednesday–Friday:
  Teachers will look through the learning and respond with either a comment or a stamp.
• Friday:
  Books are sent home again, so children can choose their next activity for the following week.

We hope this flexible approach will help children take pride in their learning while giving families choice and manageable expectations.

Homework Reminder

A polite reminder to parents and carers that it is the children’s responsibility to place their homework books into the classroom by Wednesday. The children are reminded regularly to do this. However, book bags will not be checked, and homework books will not be retrieved by staff.
