What a fantastic Science Week we’ve had!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined our Come and Learn sessions. It was wonderful to see families getting hands‑on and discovering their inner scientists together, and even a few wonderfully competitive parents stepping up as superstar scientists alongside their children!
In English, the children have been busy crafting their own acrostic poems using the words spring or flowers. Their creativity shone through, and they produced thoughtful, imaginative pieces of writing.
In maths, we continued exploring fractions, focusing on finding fractions of numbers and making sure everything is shared equally and fairly. The children have shown great confidence and enthusiasm.
With the sunshine finally breaking through, it’s been a lively and joyful week in school. We’re looking forward to welcoming all parents next week for your scheduled parents’ evening appointments.
We are in the process of assessing the children’s reading and some children are not yet ready to move on to the next
phase, set or book band.
There are 2 main focusses:
~developing fluency and expression (prosody)
~read familiar words without segmenting and blending
This means they may bring home books they have already read to develop these skills

We are spending a LOT of time helping children with their shoe laces on Monday and Fridays. If you are sending your children to school in PE trainers with laces, please ensure that they can tie them. Thank you!
Monday: outdoor Invasion Games
Friday: Gymnastic in the hall where the children will remove socks and shoes so please dress appropriately.
Please can you encourage your child to hand their home learning in when they have completed it. In Year 2 we do not go through book bags and collect their belongings, we are teaching the children independence and they need to remember.
Please can we also ask that chatterbox and class bears are returned by Thursday to share with the class.
Please can you ensure your child has their yellow reading record and school reading book on a Friday for book change.
