Weekly News

Friday 30th January

We’ve had a very busy week in school, and the chilly weather has certainly returned!

In English, the children wrote non-chronological reports inspired by The Secret of Black Rock. They worked hard to publish their writing in best.

In Maths, we have started a new unit on multiplication and division. This week, we focused on multiplication by exploring the idea of making ‘groups of’ rather than using the term times. The children practised grouping objects and pictures before moving on to repeated addition.

Next week, we will be learning about arrays—how to draw them and how to read them.

Friday 6th – National Number Day – Please see the poster below!

No PE KIT - Number Day instead

Shoe Laces

We are spending a LOT of time helping children with their shoe laces on Monday and Fridays. If you are sending your children to school in PE trainers with laces, please ensure that they can tie them. Thank you!

PE – Our PE days are still Monday and Friday.

Monday: outdoor Invasion Games
Friday: Gymnastic in the hall where the children will remove socks and shoes so please dress appropriately.

Home Learning

Please can you encourage your child to hand their home learning in when they have completed it. In Year 2 we do not go through book bags and collect their belongings, we are teaching the children independence and they need to remember.

Chatterbox and Class Bears

Please can we also ask that chatterbox and class bears are returned by Thursday to share with the class.

Reading Books and Reading Records

Please can you ensure your child has their yellow reading record and school reading book on a Friday for book change.

As always, our door is open. Please come and see us if you would like to discuss anything further.
Alternatively, we have a year group email year2@wbis.org.uk
Have a lovely weekend! 😊
