    Our learning journey this week...

This week, the children have been using all the skills they have learned throughout Year 1 to create some fantastic pieces of creative writing. They worked hard to apply their phonics, punctuation, spelling and sentence-writing skills, and we have been so impressed by their creativity and independence. It has been wonderful to see how much progress they have made over the year, and they should all feel very proud of their achievements.

In Maths, we have been revising key concepts from across the Year 1 curriculum to ensure the children are secure in their understanding before moving on to Year 2. We have been practising number facts, calculation strategies and problem-solving skills, with the children showing growing confidence in explaining their mathematical thinking.

In Science, we have been learning about animals and their diets. The children explored the terms' herbivore, carnivore and omnivore, and used this scientific vocabulary to sort and classify different animals according to what they eat. They enjoyed discussing their ideas and demonstrating a good understanding of the topic.

We are very proud of the children's hard work and enthusiasm this week as we continue to reflect on their many achievements throughout Year 1.
